January 5, 2012: fired up about my fundraising

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas & New year? We had a fantastic time, this year was my fourth 'sick' Christmas and yet the first one since my diagnosis that felt normal.

Cancer turns you into a hypochondriac! I suppose it's inevitable really.

November 1, 2011: I've learnt the true value of my life

Three years ago today I was sent home from hospital to wait for the results of a biopsy to confirm whether I had breast cancer or not, my doctor told me that they needed confirmation although they weren't considering anything thing else at that stage.

October 6: spreading the breast awareness message

THE fundraising is well under way, we raised a fantastic £465 and had a brilliant night. I could have sold loads more tickets and most people who attended asked when the next one will be.

September 15: A new chapter

We are approaching the end of Megan's first week at 'big school' and this marks the start of a new stage in our family's journey.

September 3: Looking towards the future

Having had a bad pre-chemo experience where the (new) doctor demanded to know why I was experiencing nausea when they are 'only' giving me Herceptin, which doesn't cause nausea??? And where did I get the idea that I had cancer in my hip from because there was nothing to indicate that on her report, I decided to make an appointment with my consultant.

Well, we know the summer holidays are here because the weather is rubbish! We had a very busy end of term, with various shows, presentations and of course sports day.

June 15: CT scan results relief, a week away and Race For Life plea

I'm late in writing my entry for this month, things have been a bit hectic. On the Tuesday of half term (31st) I went to Ward 10 for my usual day 8 blood test (bloods taken 8 days after chemo to check white blood cell levels) & to have my tunnel line flushed (where they flush my line through with saline & something else to help prevent infection).

May 4: a lovely couple of weeks

Two years ago at the weekend, I had a huge birthday party to celebrate turning 35yrs. I invited everybody I knew and celebrated like it was my last birthday - because at the time I thought it would be.

April 8: a positive mindset!

I spent Tuesday in London at the Breast Cancer Care offices doing day 1 of a two day course 'Living with Secondary Breast Cancer as a Younger Woman'.
