An elderly man was airlifted to hospital on Saturday afternoon after falling from his bicycle.

Paramedics were called to a Wareham road after reports that the man had suffered a head injury in an accident.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called on Saturday, August 20, to Corfe Road in Wareham,

"The call came in at 1.20pm.

"An elderly man had fallen off his bike and was unconscious.

"A rapid response vehicle and an ambulance attended.

"The man was taken to Southampton General Hospital by air ambulance."
