I LOVE breakfast. I go to sleep looking forward to what I’m going to eat the next morning. I think it's my favourite meal.

When I was a child, I would munch my way through a bowl of Coco Pops every morning accompanied by a glass of cola (it was the 80s, what can I say?) You’ll be pleased to hear I’ve kicked that bad habit into touch and am now a staunch porridge fan.

I’m very particular about my porridge. It’s got to be just the right consistency (it took many attempts before it stopped resembling wallpaper paste) and topped with raspberries. I love strawberries, but they just don’t work. Blueberries are nice but I’ll take raspberries any day.

It’s the only meal where I’ll happily eat the same thing many days in a row and not get bored of it.

I’ve never been able to understand when people say they don’t do breakfast.

I’m completely on board with the literal meaning of ‘breaking the fast’ and have no problem eating in the morning, no matter what time of day I have to be up.

What do you eat to kick-start your day? Do you find breakfast one of the most boring meals of the day? Do you survive until lunchtime on coffee or tea alone? Or do you require something substantial like a bacon bap?
