My housemate and I had invited some mates round to watch the last day of the Air Festival from our flat on East Cliff.

Unfortunately the weather didn’t want to play ball so we ended up watching the football on TV and having a few beers instead.

As is often the case in this situation we began to get a craving for an Indian meal. Football + alcohol + hungry lads – aeroplanes = craving for curry. Simple maths.

With the fog descending we weren’t going to be venturing out any time soon – so a delivery it had to be.

Finding a decent Indian takeaway that delivers on a Sunday evening is not as easy as you’d think. After a few failed attempts on the phone and the internet we were delighted when Momtaz in Boscombe announced they would deliver to our door within 45 minutes and that we could pay by card.

Forty minutes later the doorbell rang and a drenched, yet cheery, delivery guy in full Indian dress presented me with our meals – a lamb bhuna, lamb rhogan josh, chicken dupiaza and a chicken tikka massala.

We also split a special rice, plain rice and two keema naans between four, bringing the total to a reasonable £36.45 with free delivery.

Kudos to the delivery guy for even finding our flat but he must have been searching for a while as all the dishes arrived lukewarm.

The meat in all four was excellent and the portion sizes were commendable, however, my dupiaza was a little bland and the tikka massala was a little sickly sweet.

Both lamb dishes were given the thumbs up, but the keema in the keema naans was almost non-existent.

Momtaz scores well for effort, efficiency, letting us pay by card and delivering on a Sunday evening, but nobody wants a lukewarm takeaway.
