Plank Roasted Steak
Serves 1
1 steak (preferably fillet or sirloin)
Glug of olive oil
2 cloves of garlic
A handful of mushrooms
A handfull of cherry tomatoes
Goat’s cheese (optional)
Your favourite herbs
Salt and pepper
Oak plank
Soak an oak plank overnight in a sink or bucket of water.
Rub the plank with olive oil, garlic and your favourite herbs (dill, coriander and chilli are good) and the salt and pepper.
Place the steak on the plank along with the mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and goat’s cheese (optional) and put in a pre heated oven (150C/300F) to cook for about 20 minutes, depending on the thickness of the steak.
It should be medium rare when it comes out of the oven.
If you like it rare take it out earlier or if you prefer it well done then leave it in a bit longer.
