HERE are five businesses which have opened, had a refurbishment or come under new management in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. 

The Cranleigh 

Bournemouth pub The Cranleigh re-opened at the start of this month having undergone a six-figure major renovation to its interior and exterior. 

Greene King says it has ‘revitalised the existing site’ and given it a ‘brand-new look and feel’. 

Inside, the space had a complete makeover, with the addition of new décor and furnishings to create a ‘funky and fresh feel’ whilst keeping a traditional pub vibe.

The Red Lion 

Poole pub The Red Lion changed hands this month with new owners completing major work inside and outside. 

New owners Greene King said the refurb was to ‘revitalise the existing space and give it a brand-new look and feel’. 

The pub now offers Sky and TNT Sport to show major matches for sports fans, with a revamped food and drinks menu.

M&S 

Wimborne welcomed its second major supermarket this month with the arrival of Marks and Spencer. 

Pupils from St John’s CE VC First School opened the supermarket with Percy Pig, the famous M&S mascot. 

The new store has an online click-and-collect service, fresh baked goods from its bakery, and self-checkouts.

The Kings Arms 

The Kings Arms in Wallisdown Road, Bournemouth has had “a few bad years” under different owners but the new management is hoping they can draw a line in the sand.  

Featuring freshly cooked food, a new menu, live music and an upcoming lick of paint, The Kings Arms appears to be going through a positive transformation.  

New owner Stuart Wallace, who has been running pubs for 13 years, said The Kings Arms is now “for everybody, a great local pub for local people”.

Café 89 

Found within The Range in Bournemouth, this in-store café serves up  breakfasts, snacks, sandwiches, cakes, and drinks for shoppers. 

Until recently, the café was known as DeeDee’s, but owners decided to give it a complete revamp to become Café 89. 

Not only has the café got a completely new look, but its food and drink offerings have also been entirely switched up.
