NOW we are starting a new year I thought it might be an idea to express my concerns about the Bournemouth regeneration.

It has been proposed to build monumental buildings to provide cinemas, shops, restaurants etc in the town centre.

My personal viewpoint in this matter is forget these and concentrate on the first priorities – ie a proper bus station and not the shambolic ‘station’ we have at present.

Many towns and cities have a delightful area where people can sit in a proper building for boarding and alighting buses with places to eat and drink to while the time away whilst waiting.

Secondly, demolish the Imax cinema completely and build a proper Winter Garden to accommodate the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra concert hall, plus a super swimming pool and, over the top of this an ice rink, plus a restaurant overlooking the bay and recreational area.

With all the brains in this county I feel sure that this could be done.

The buildings being of low structure so as not to hide the bay view coming into the town.

I have suggested these ideas to the council sometime ago, but there have been several ideas submitted but nothing concrete yet.
