I WRITE in reply to DT Tulk’s letter (Echo, January 30).

I found the contents of this very disturbing due to the fact he is calling this SCS - Screaming Child Syndrome.

Where did the person come up with this stupid name?

There may be a reason for a child or children to behave in this manner and it has nothing to do with SCS - their name for it, not mine, as they put it.

I have for a number of years helped parents with children who have ADHD, ADD, Asperger’s, Autism etc and they cannot help the way they are.

This behaviour which they mention could be that the child or children could be suffering from one of these conditions.

So think before you judge, as it is unfair on the child or children and believe me, the parent or parents with the child or children find it embarrassing just because of people like you.

I myself have a 12-year-old son who suffers from ADHD and also is Autistic which is hard work at home, school and shops at times.

That is why we carry a card given to us by Autism Wessex to show to people like you who do not understand the child’s needs, but just assume it’s bad parenting.

But why should we have to show this to anyone anyway to prove the child or children have a disability? Yes, a disability, as not all disabilities are visual.

So therefore next time you are shopping or in a play park etc, stop and think before making assumptions as people like you make me so cross.

Just to finish off, you will never find a child so loving and honest as these children with any of the above conditions as they do not know how to lie and the love they give you is 100 per cent genuine.
