THERE is a relatively new phenomenon about.

It is called SCS - screaming child syndrome.

It usually manifests itself in supermarkets, shopping centres, and in various open spaces.

It is invariably accompanied by the parent or parents appearing to be completely oblivious to the screaming child.

I have a theory as to why this is.

These parents are part of the age group that abused their hearing by having their personal stereos turned up too loud and, as a consequence, are unable to hear their charges because the frequency they scream at cannot be heard.

How else can you explain the reason for allowing children to behave in this way unchecked?

One day, they will do it for real and no-one will take any notice because the public will be so used to hearing these children screaming and take no notice.

Actions have consequences.
