PEDESTRIANS who try to cross The Square into the Lower Gardens in Bournemouth at a certain time of day can often have their journey delayed by a stream of buses trying to get in and out of Gervis Place.
And in turn, bus drivers and their passengers endure frustration as they attempt to get on their travels.
In effect, a bottleneck develops.
Hopefully this pattern will change if Bournemouth Council has its way.
The authority wants to use the NCP car park in neighbouring Exeter Road as a bus station in a bid to relieve traffic congestion.
The downside to this idea is that a long-standing £50m cinema and restaurant scheme for the same site would probably be scrapped.
However any project that helps to ease the number of buses squeezed into a small area has to be beneficial for all those in the immediate vicinity.
