Dorset RSPCA: 6 pets who are looking for forever homes

Located on the border with Hampshire, the centre offers care for its animals in rural surroundings.

Frank

Age - One year old

Breed - French Bulldog

Colour - Black and White

Frank came into the care of the RSPCA after he was found tied to a fence with his possessions after his owner could no longer keep him.

He has required some surgery to correct a slipping kneecap as well as to widen his nostrils, so he is now quite anxious about vet visits.

This will require extra management to help him cope in the future.

Frank is described as a "playful and affectionate" dog who enjoys cuddling up on the sofa.

Ideally, he would go to a new home as the only pet there and with children who are teenage or above.

Elvina

Age - Two years old

Breed - Collie (Rough coat) crossbreed

Colour - Black

Elvina came into the care of the RSPCA after living in unsuitable conditions with around 200 other dogs.

She has led an extremely sheltered life with limited human interactions and it took some time to build up her confidence.

The profile adds: "She is now happy with who and what she knows but when introduced to something new or unfamiliar she reverts back to being a shy, nervous dog who wants to avoid such situations."

Elvina could go to a quiet house with calm and understanding owners.

Whitney

Breed - Collie (Smooth coat) crossbreed

Colour - Dark/Grey/White

Whitney came into the care of the RSPCA after she was removed from unsuitable living conditions.

Although initially shy, Whitney is described as "a very sweet girl" and once you have gained her trust, she is playful and full of energy.

She is interested to see what is going on but until she gets to know you, she can be quite worried by sudden movements or touch.

New adopters must respect that she may take time to allow interaction, fuss and attention.

Due to her past, Whitney has never experienced a proper home environment before so new owners would need to show her the ropes.

Mr Binx

Breed - Domestic

Mr Binx came into the care of the RSPCA after being found abandoned along with a number of other rabbits, and he is now ready for a new home.

He is a friendly, social rabbit, who enjoys exploring his environment and supervising at cleaning time.

Ashley Heath adds: "He would like to be rehomed to live with a female rabbit as company and will require a large living area with plenty of enrichment to keep them occupied.

"Initially, they will require separate accommodation from each other during the bonding process."

Flora

Age - One year old

Breed - Domestic Longhair crossbreed

Flora arrived at the centre from a large multi-household of other cats, and as a result, has had very little human contact.

She will need time to settle into a new environment and will be best suited to a quiet home with adopters who have had experience with nervous cats before.

Flora could get used to living with another cat given the time and space to settle.

Smokey

Smokey is a rabbit who is looking for a home with an existing neutered male rabbit to gradually introduce her to and become a bonded pair.

She came into the care of the RSPCA as her welfare needs were not being met, and was initially underweight but is now progressing well.

The RSPCA adds: "If you are interested in adopting a rabbit from RSPCA Ashley Heath you would need to have accommodation already in place. A pair of rabbits will require unrestricted access to a space measuring 6ft by 10ft, totalling 60 square feet."
