A MAN has been charged with murder over the death of 25-year-old Jennifer Williams.

At 4.12pm on Saturday, June 20, police officers were called to an address in Colehill Crescent, Bournemouth, after Ms Williams sustained serious injuries.

She was taken to Poole Hospital for treatment but died from her injuries the following morning.

A post mortem examination found she had died from multiple stab wounds.

Today, police charged 26-year-old Stefan Marc Mayne with murder. He will appear before Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Wednesday, June 24.

Detective Inspector Mark Samuel, of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “Following a fast-moving and thorough investigation, we have consulted with the Crown Prosecution Service who authorised the charge of murder.

“However, detectives will continue to obtain the facts in this investigation.

“Family liaison officers have updated Jennifer’s family with this development and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

“I would like to thank the public for their support and co-operation during the initial stages of our investigation.”

John Montague, Senior District Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service in Wessex, said: "Ms Williams was attended to by neighbours after she escaped her home, suffering several serious stab wounds.

“She died in the early hours of the following morning after doctors at Poole Hospital tried to save her.

“I carefully reviewed all the available evidence provided to me by Dorset Police, and in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors, I am satisfied that there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and it is in the public interest to prosecute Stefan Mayne for the murder of Jennifer Williams.

"Proceedings are now ongoing and the defendant has the right to a fair trial.

“It is very important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."
