A WOMAN who died from stab wounds in Bournemouth over the weekend has today been named by her family.

At 4.12pm on Saturday June 20, officers were called to an address in Colehill Crescent after 25-year-old Jennifer Williams, of Bournemouth, sustained serious stab wounds.

She was taken to Poole Hospital for treatment but died at 3.28am on Sunday June 21 from her injuries.

Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team has since launched a murder investigation.

Jennifer’s family are being kept updated by specially-trained officers.

Her family said: “We are all devastated and in shock. Jennifer can never be replaced.”

A host of floral tributes had been laid outside Ms William's front door.
The flowers have been placed inside a cordon that still surrounds the property.

A Securitas CCTV mobile vehicle unit was parked outside the building as a security guard sat inside watching the screens.

Neighbour Jane Cooper said: "I just wanted to give my condolences to her family.

"I didn't know her well myself, but I would see her tending to the flowers in the garden. It is incredibly sad, and a terrible loss of a young life."

Another neighbour living nearby, who did not want to be named, added: "It is a sad and tragic waste of a life.

"I feel so sad for her family."

It is thought that Ms Williams had been living at the property for around five or six months before the tragic incident.

Detective Inspector Mark Samuel of the Dorset Police Major Crime Investigation Team said: “It is believed that the alleged offender is known to the victim and we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

“I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information about this incident to call Dorset Police in confidence.”

A cordon remains in place at the scene and is expected to remain there for some time while crime scene investigators continue to carry out examinations. Additional police patrols are taking place in the area to reassure the public.

A post mortem examination was carried out on Sunday evening and found that Jennifer had died from multiple stab wounds. The coroner has been notified.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 21:134. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.

A 26-year-old Bournemouth man, initially arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, was re-arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

DI Samuel added: “We obtained a magistrates’ court extension for the custody of the arrested 26-year-old man, which currently runs until just after 9pm today, Tuesday June 23.”
