DORSET’S Pink Champagne dragon boat team are taking part in an international competition in the United States.
The group will be among 102 teams from around the world racing each other at the International Breast Cancer Dragon Boat Festival in Sarasota, Florida.
The Pink Champagne team, formed in 2008 to help women who have completed their course of cancer treatment regain their fitness, will be setting off for the festival next month.
“We have been training very hard all year and we’ve improved as a team to give us the best opportunity for Sarasota,” said team member Christine Bailey.
“Our strength and team morale have never been higher and we’re excited to see what we can achieve for our team and country in October.
“After taking part in the International Festival in Canada in 2010, we’re looking forward to the amazing atmosphere and meeting the thousands of women that gather to race for our cause and celebrate life.”
