A CHRISTMAS ad showing off all Bournemouth has to offer this festive season is being shown on television this month.

The Make it Bournemouth ad features the Gardens of Light, Santa’s Grotto and the town's biggest outdoor ice rink yet.

Singer Lauren Bannon’s rendition of the classic ‘Beside the Seaside’ is the soundtrack for the ad, which will be shown on ITV until December 24.

It was first aired on Friday during an ad break for Coronation Street.

Last year singer Charlie Hole, provided the music for the debut advert.

Make it Bournemouth is part of Bournemouth town centre BID.

I think that the Square area looks tacky and cheap right now. It looked nicer years ago before pedestrianised

If the ton was getting it right there would be no need for costly TV ads something they clearly are not doing as any visitor will unfortunately find out.

I thought the ad was pretty good. It had a M&S/ Debenhams type feel, hit the right vibe and managed to avoid being naff. Hopefully it will pay off... but that will depend on how much it cost. Perhaps it will pave the way for a Summer themed ad?

The only way to revive the town centre is to ban internet shopping!

The alternative is for the 'Bournemouth town centre BID' organisation to adopt an 'if you cant beat 'em, join 'em' approach by opening an internet shopping warehouse for the town centre businesses at, say at Elliot Road?

Well, that will appeal to the Lo-so spenders who should feel at home in tacky B&Bs.
