Friday December 12

  • Swanage Railway's Christmas Carol train runs from Swanage, with half-hour carol singing sessions at festively decorated Harman's Cross and Corfe Castle stations - as well as at Swanage on the trains return at 9pm. Tickets are £12.50 adults, £7 for children.
  • Christmas carols at St Francis of Assisi Church in Charminster Road at 7.30pm. The Ringwood and Burley Band and the Bournemouth Symphony Youth Chorus will perform. Tickets cost £6 for adults, £5 for seniors and £3 for under 16s. Call 01425 470370
  • Saturday, December 13

  • Meet Santa on The Green in Southbourne between 10am and 4pm. Booking essential.
  • The Christmas Carnival in Highcliffe from 11am, with a carnival procession along Lymington Road from 6pm. Arrive by 5pm for the procession as Lymington Road will be closed to traffic. www.highcliffecarnival.org.uk
  • Wimborne Save the Children parade, featuring 50 flats. Will leave Cobham in Brook Road 2.15pm before making their way to the Square for 3pm.
  • Verwood's Christmas Extravaganza takes place between 5pm and 8pm.
  • The residents of Runton Road will be switching on their Christmas lights at 5.30pm.
  • Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary's Church in Sturminster Marshall. Free Entry and refreshments all weekend.
  • Sunday, December 14

  • Burton's Carols on the Green event begins at 4pm with the Christchurch and Highcliffe Brass Band. People are asked to bring torches and lanterns.
  • The Great Santa Fun Run takes place from 11am. There will be a choice of two or four mile runs, and everyone will be wearing a Santa suit.
  • Wareham's Father Christmas Parade starts at 4.30pm. Santa will arrive in a mystery vehicle, then climb on the roof of the Red Lion pub and drop down the chimney.
