BUSINESSES in Bournemouth are being invited to get involved in the first Family Adventure Festival being held in the town.

The event is being put on by BH Live, in partnership with the Coastal BID and supported by Bournemouth University and Bournemouth Borough Council and takes place over the half-term holidays in May and June.

The event aims to encourage families and people of all ages to get involved in outdoor pursuits by offering them the opportunity to learn more about the sporting and adventure activities in the area. They can try them and get kitted up with the right clothing and equipment at an interactive exhibition at the Bournemouth International Centre.

To kick off the event on Sunday May 19, Altitude High Ropes Adventure at Littledown Park is offering discounted high ropes adventure sessions, people can enjoy a swim at a BH Live operated leisure centre for just £1 and local sports clubs will be showcasing their activities and offering taster sessions at the Littledown Centre.

From May 27 to 30 further activities and adventure attractions including volleyball, tag rugby, beach soccer and lacrosse will be available for people to try along Southbourne, Boscombe, Bournemouth and Westbourne beaches for no charge.

The main festival event, the BH Live Adventure Hub will be hosted at the BIC and along the beach from May 31 to June 2. Activities and demonstrations include hiking, cycling and watersports and there will also be talks, films and live music.

Steve Piper, BH Live director of venues, said: “We are inviting local businesses, accommodation providers and shops to contact us now to see how they can be involved in, what we hope, will become an annual town event and put Bournemouth and Dorset on the map as a UK adventure destination.”
