NEXT month sees a new way to experience and enjoy film in Bournemouth. Following a successful bid to the National Lottery, Arts Bournemouth will be bringing a series of pop-up live cinema events, the first of which takes place on the February 14.
These events bring together film, performance and live music in some inspired and surprising settings. Kerry Curtis, of Arts Bournemouth, says: “We’re bringing back a sense of community and shared experience to cinema-going, something that is often lacking at the multiplex. We get a great mix of people that span all ages at our cinema events, we also get people coming to Bournemouth from other parts of the country to enjoy.”
The first Arts Bournemouth pop-up Cinema event of 2013 takes place on February 14 with two screenings, with a difference, of the Oscar winning The Artist at the Pier Theatre, Bournemouth.
Councillor Ian Lancashire, Champion for Arts and Culture at Bournemouth Borough Council says: “This is great for the region and follows on from the success of the second Arts by the Sea Festival which took place in October 2012.”
