For understandable reasons, Britain doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving.
Yet millions of people have apparently embraced Black Friday – the sales push which sees millions of Americans hit the shops the day after their November holiday.
Many people will wonder why the UK should have seized on this idea so eagerly, especially when we don’t get a public holiday to go with it.
But times have been tough for high street retailers, so whatever our view of this particular American import, we should probably welcome the boost to business.
