DID the security check causing delay to delegates’ attendance last time their conference was in Bournemouth upset the Tories?

The report (Daily Echo Sept 20) announcing a new attempt to attract more political party conferences is being made by the council.

It is sad to note that fairly regular visits of the political parties have been severely reduced in latter years.

The last time the Conservative party held their annual conference was, I think, 2006.

The Liberal Democrat’s last visit was in 2009 and the Labour party’s last visit was 2007.

I believe the reason why we have not received a visit from the Conservatives is the overdue delay brought about by security checks conducted at the time the conference was in progress. Consequently quite a large number of delegates missed a major part of the proceedings.

Let’s hope that we will soon welcome this important meeting of the government’s delegates.
