AS a site and events manager for a main Bournemouth Festival , one can only feel sorry for those at the Boscombe Community Fair and hope those who suffered injury make a speedy recovery and that the community fair is not affected next year.
No one can legislate for a mindless idiot.
It is obvious that they implemented their evacuation plan in the site events manual.
Those who organise festivals in Bournemouth know that the council operates a safety advisory group which is made up of various council departments and emergency services and is very disciplined in its approach to a safe event for all.
I am sure without this group, the events at the community fair would have been worse.
Not only does it cover public protection but evacuation plan, lost children, food hygenie and other subjects attached to any event.
The council events team, along with their partner agencies, educate and advise organisers and through the years lessons are learnt.
Of course site experience and learning each year of what went right and what went wrong plays a major part in tweaking the future and being honest to that fact upgrades your awareness on the day.
Bournemouth operates for all small, medium and large events a management structure to ensure the safe operation of any event and I personally would not want to see it any other way.
