YOUR correspondent Doug Mills is no lover of the planned Navitus Bay windfarm.

Yet he should refrain from misrepresenting science when he voices his concerns which he did again spectacularly with his letter of September 10 (What will farm do to dolphins?) Concerning windfarms, studies are remarkably consistent. They show fish and dolphins are more abundant in the vicinity of wind farms.

Mr Mills may be repeating the error of others or he may have found some obscure reference but his remarks entirely contradict the science.

I do wonder if his source lies within the study of AK Larsson who has been quoted saying ‘fewer fish were caught when the turbine was in operation’.

Quoted out of context, this is misleading as Larsson’s study indeed found bigger fish populations following the turbine’s installation.
