Orchestra planners must bring it back REGARDING Cllr Anne Filer’s letter (Daily Echo August 21), referring to the lack of our National Anthem being played by Bournemouth Orchestra at the end of their concert at the Pavilion last April, commemorating our Queen’s birthday.

My husband and I also attended this concert.

We sat amongst strangers.

As the concert progressed all of us were well pleased with what we were witnessing and voiced our opinions to each other.

However, we were stunned when we realised the concert had finished with no National Anthem.

Just could not comprehend such a musical void!

Our bureaucratic decision-makers seem to be obsessed with “watering down” our pride in our country and trying to force their pathetic reasoning on us all as a nation.

I have news for them – it won’t work, so forget it.

Many residents, shopkeepers and business people I know who were not born in Great Britain flaunted our national flag and bunting during Jubilee week and the recent Olympics .

I suggest that the orchestra’s management team take on Cllr Filer’s well-backed remarks and alter their programmes in future.
