IT was with great relief that I read in the Echo that the government was attempting to find and incentivise buyers for the Remploy project and that the Poole site might be one of nine saved.
When you think of the billions spent on dubious projects and the waste that is endemic in public finances seen at local and national level, how refreshing to see people are being put first and this most worthy of projects may be saved.
I have to say however that only nine of the 36 sites seems a bit of a token offering from the government in response to a 10,000-strong petition to Iain Duncan Smith in support of this noble project, started after the Second World War to assist injured servicemen.
Let the disabled have the dignity of a job and keep all sites open and let politics work for the people on occasions, not always on the basis of profit.
