I WISH to reply to the article ‘A total shambles’ in the July 4 edition.
This refers to Christchurch Council putting a hold on all of the supermarket applications.
I was at the five-hour long planning meeting. The whole problem is that the legal processes which were clearly laid out by the professional planners, were completely ignored by the Planning Committee.
This allowed the meeting to proceed unlawfully, due to, in my opinion, weak chairmanship, and as a result of this the Quantum proposal was very narrowly accepted.
I feel sure that any legal challenge to the outcome of this “shambles” would be upheld.
I wrote to the head of planning about this situation.
Now the whole meeting and its conclusions are rightfully null and void.
