AT last – the Canford Bottom roundabout was opened recently after six months of total miserable disruption.
It has cost me an extra 20 miles per day and £20 per week in fuel – not exactly helping our carbon footprint!
If you ever passed during the day or night you could certainly question their productivity.
This project could have been completed much, much earlier to the relief of locals.
The impact on business has been huge.
However even after all this time there are still problems.
Despite what Mr Mackenzie states in the Echo regarding the benefits, all it has done is create chaos – three accidents in the first day and then still closures on evenings Monday to Thursday – without any prior notification.
The lights are still not synchronised correctly (“they will be fine-tuned over the first few days”), with too many vehicles in one zone at each time.
From one point coming from Ferndown and waiting in traffic, no fewer than 10 sets of lights are visible – how confusing!
It is a pity that local residents could not have had more say in the spending of £5.7m – all this will do is shunt the problem down to the Merley junction.
