Having just crewed on a Thames sailing barge in the passage match from Gravesend to Harwich, we took a course passing near to a wind farm.
I counted about 46 turbines. it took us a couple of hours to get by so we could make a course for Harwich.
A North cardinal buoy was about half way down. If we had taken a North course we would have gone right through the wind farm.
Even Trinity House can’t get it right – not good in fog.
I don’t think people quite understand the scale of these farms. The size of the Poole and Weymouth bay is huge. It’s pollution of the sea on a grand scale.
If you are in doubt, I suggest a trip to the east coast. There are always a few not working, so in time as they age more will fail.
It will kill the sailing and fishing industry in this area.
I suggest, if passed, build them within range of Lulworth firing range at least they would be good practice for the Army.
