IN reply relating to ‘Residents to have say on Planning Document’.

Sorry, but this must be the biggest joke of the century! When have Poole planners ever listened to what the residents really want?

We have had Supplementary Planning Guidance documents drawn up at huge cost to taxpayers, adopted and then can be ignored by the planners.

Evidence to support this: at an Appeal re development in Old Coastguard Road, the Supplementary Planning Guidance: Shoreline Character Area was ignored by the planning department when reaching a decision and, when pointed out to the Inspector by a councillor the relevance of this document, the planning inspector had not even been made aware of its existence by the council.

When the councillor produced the document, the inspector upheld the guidance of this document and also upheld the appeal. So why are Poole Borough Planning Department embarking on an exercise to consult the residents when they may have no intention of listening to them?
