YOU couldn’t make it up. Sunday, June 10 a sign appeared at the A31 bypass: “Expect delays through July due to sailing events in Weymouth.”

We have had delays/stoppages every day for the last year.

Now it’s official – expect delays.

During the Jubilee four-day weekend the Ferndown areas were at a standstill – gridlocked.

We the motorists expected from July 1 to see all the 72 traffic lights turn to green as we sailed merrily through Canford Bottom and say ‘wot roundabout?’ Apparently not.

The East Dorset District Council missed a chance to promote Dorset as a holiday area. They should have put light holiday traffic signs up from Ashley Heath, detouring through Horton and Verwood to Wimborne or across Cranborne Chase to Blandford and Bere Regis as was done for the Steam Rally.

Also, while writing this through a red mist, I was informed recently while sitting outside my beach hut admiring the view of the Needles, opposite the surf-reef-that-isn’t-a-surf-reef, that the bay is going to be filled with wind turbines.
