I WRITE to support the statements made by the police and council officers in Tuesday’s Echo, who are currently working in Boscombe on a range of projects which together will give a fresh start and begin to create a vibrant, healthy community in that area.

We, the Boscombe Regeneration Partnership and Bournemouth 2026, have a joint vision for Boscombe, one which brings the community together, gives cohesion, cooperation and a feeling of wanting to live and work here.

We do not want to trivialise the situation as it is at present, but the unpleasant things that happen in the area are the reason why your council is focusing on Boscombe, and in particular Churchill Gardens, and a number of initiatives are already underway to deal with the problems that have been highlighted in the article.

We do care passionately that many of our residents are living in sub-standard accommodation, and that their lives are blighted by anti-social behaviour going on in the streets and parks, and we are finding solutions to these difficult problems, but it will take time and plenty of effort.

Together we can make a difference; I would ask your readers to back Boscombe and support their community.

CLLR JANE KELLY, Boscombe West Ward, Cabinet Member for Partnerships and Regeneration, Bournemouth Council
