I HOPE the Bournemouth Council are now reconsidering their idea of “Open Air” entertainment on the site of the Imax.

It must be obvious that the site needs a building of some sort on it.

It would be great to have the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra playing during both the winter and the summer and other entertainment groups using the area, but there is no way they would want to be open to the winds and rain down there, nor would people want to go and watch whilst getting drenched or blown to pieces.

Discussions have been all about wet weather facilities, so either the council need to keep what is there and make full use of it, which even if the building is not the best looking could provide a lot of entertainment or demolish and build a lower building.

The council just need to keep saying “Wet weather” facilities and that is just what Bournemouth needs. If the sun comes out that is great, but our summer is getting shorte and shorter and Bournemouth needs to cater for that if it is to increase visitors and compete with other seaside resorts.

What about the ice rink there with entertainment hall above. Can you imagine also an ice show together with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra providing the wonderful music. The list is endless.

The councillors should sit and imagine they are visiting Bournemouth with their family. What would they want to find?

Forget the surf reef-the surfers are having a wonderful time down there at the moment without the help of the bags of sand.
