I HAVE just become a grandmother for the first time, and I admit that I closed my eyes to the reality of the problems in Boscombe and surrounding areas.

Having read the article in the Echo on June 12 about the drawing from a 10-year-old of drugs, prostitution, stabbings, etc , it just broke my heart.

I’m filled with fear and horror at the thought of my grandson living in this area.

When will the council start to realise that better social housing is needed?

Not a surf reef that has cost millions and does not work; not an Imax centre that cost millions to build and now millions to demolish.

There are way too many bail hostels, rehab centres, dry houses in the area and this is to name but a few. I have come across needles just dumped in parks, churchyards and Boscombe Crescent.

I’ve seen the dealings going on, whether its drugs, prostitution whatever.

I’m now so sick of the area I just want out with my new family.

Boscombe is not a seaside town; it’s a dumping ground for those who would rather waste their lives and beg, borrow or steal for what they want, without an ounce of consideration for those who want to live their lives in a respectable area.

My blood boils whenever I think about the future because I really don’t think there is one.

I live in hope that I am wrong.
