THERE have been a number of letters regarding parking tickets being issued on bank holiday Monday.

The parking restrictions in Littledown, which were put in place as a result of countless requests by residents, are Monday to Friday 11am to noon and 2pm to 3pm.

Weekends, as countless football fans that use the streets of Littledown know, are free of penalty.

There are large notices at various points, one of which is at the top of Littledown Drive.

As one of the ward councillors and a resident of Littledown, I support the action of the officers.

They respond to calls from residents on these occasions and that would have been the case on Easter Monday.

There is nothing to stop fans either paying to park in the car parks in Kings Park or waiting until 3pm and missing the first few minutes of the game.

While on the subject of Kings Park and the travellers’ incursion there, the overriding priority for local residents has been for the council to obtain the powers of the court to evict the travellers from car parks.

The council will be far more robust with illegal encampments in the future.

I trust this answers the points raised in your letters page recently and no doubt will cause great debate on the blog.
