I DRIVE past the airport most days and thought what a good idea the new cycle path was.
For a long time now I have worried about driving home at sunset, because there is a point, at the end of runway by Chapel Gate, where the sun totally blinds you, and, if you were on a bike, it was extremely dangerous. So, when the new cycle lane was completed I was relieved to say the least.
The strange thing is though, hardly any of the cyclists use it. Is there something wrong with it? Or is there a law that says bikes can’t use it? Personally I think they’re all potty! I use it (and no, not in my car) and quite frankly I can’t wait for someone to make a cycle path from Northbourne roundabout to the Parley traffic lights because I could cycle all the way to the airport worry free.
