WE OFTEN hear about the NHS being a postcode lottery. I have to agree – and in this part of Dorset we are fortunate enough to live at one of the best addresses in the country.

Since I moved to Bournemouth permanently, I have had the misfortune to encounter some very serious health problems.

Fortunately, I have a GP who is second to none. During a prolonged stay in the Royal Bournemouth Hospital towards the end of last year I received care which was also second to none and which undoubtedly saved my life. When required, I was referred to a major London teaching hospital. I have had physiotherapy at Christchurch Hospital, which has enabled me to walk without a stick.

I have a superb NHS dentist and have benefited from the assistance of a range of other services including practice nurses and pathology.

As we look forward to what will occur in 2012, I am sure there are a huge number of people who would wish to join me in thanking all those dedicated people.

We count our blessings that we are so well served in our delightful corner of the country.
