I FIND it incredible and offensive to the Borough of Poole that Conor Burns MP (for only a very small part, but too much, of Poole) should state that “Bournemouth has done extremely well in making savings and I would not want that progress to be contaminated” by merging wholly or partly with the Borough of Poole Let me assure him that the majority of people in Poole would want nothing to do with the perpetual circus and sideshow that is Bourne-mouth Council.

I normally do not comment on the events across the border, but an outsider who has been in the local area for no more than five minutes should not be allowed to gratuitously insult the ancient and historic Borough of Poole I wonder what exactly he feels Poole will contaminate Bournemouth with?

Perhaps an aversion to spending millions on grandiose failed schemes (surf reef, IMAX etc)?

Refusing to close local swimming pools (BIC)?

Listening to residents’ views before deciding on school closures (Townsend)?

Consistently charging lower council tax than anywhere else in Dorset? Mr Burns should immediately apologise to residents, councillors and council officers in Poole for his outrageous comment
