ISEE the saga of the Twin Sails bridge rumbles on? (Will the sails look like a pyramid) The “iconic” sails of course will only be visible when the bridge is raised and all the traffic in the town brought to a standstill. Most people will be waiting for the “icon” to go back down so that they can continue and get on with their business, instead of just wasting their time stuck in traffic.

If an “icon” is all that was wanted then why couldn’t the bridge have been a flyover, as most of the locals would have preferred? And then a “sail” could have been built at both ends of the bridge, as a tower or something, and be permanently visible, and wouldn’t have affected the traffic or shipping?

The “sails” could have been something like the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth which is far more of an icon.
