WAFFLE, waffle, waffle, that’s all the authorities can do about inconsiderate cyclists.

Pages have been written in the local and daily newspapers about cyclists riding on pavements, riding in pedestrian precincts, riding with no lights at night, you name it, it’s been written.

I would dearly like to see someone in authority take some positive action before something more serious happens.

A few years ago Winton police reported in the Daily Echo, that they were going to take positive action about the menace.

I wrote to the Echo that I was awaiting with bated breath at the first charge brought against an offender. A few days later I came in from work and was met by a policeman from Winton.

He told me that although they agreed with my comments about riding on pavements etc, it was far less dangerous than making them ride on the roads! It seemed to them, the lesser of the evils.

So, if the police are NOT going to take any action, where do we, the ordinary citizen stand on this menace?

Please ‘NO MORE WAFFLE’, action is what is needed and soon, before it’s too late.
