WITH reference to the article about an out of date pack of bacon having been purchased by the mum from Ferndown (Daily Echo, September 24), I question why Heidi did not check the date on this particular pack prior to purchase.
Perhaps she was in a hurry at the time but, then, did she also fail to notice the date before opening the said pack?
While I acknowledge the offending pack should have been removed from the shelf by a member of staff once the expiry date had been reached, mistakes do occur.
Occasionally I have noticed an out of date item on a shelf, removed the item and given it to a member of staff, thus avoiding any problem either for the store concerned or a member of the public.
My policy is always to check dates when buying perishable items.
