I REFER to the letter on Friday September 23 2011 by Robert Readman, “The ultimate freedom is a choice of life”.
I am all for choice and I am not coming at this from the religious side of the argument.
But I would refer to the case of Dr Harold Shipman who picked on women over 60.
He was their executioner. They did not die by choice.
I myself am fast approaching 80, have not got a bank balance to take care of my future needs if this should arise.
After some of the cases that have been in the press recently of water and food being withheld in hospitals and nursing homes, do you call that choice?
There is all kind of reasons why our choice could be in jeopardy and I would want to see a lot of safeguards before this became law.
