I READ with interest the front page story of Miss Endecott banned from selling the Enid Blyton inspired golliwogs at the Boscombe Vintage market (Daily Echo, September 23), together with the comments from Bournemouth council’s equality and diversity manager and the council’s arts development manager.

Both accept that she is not racist or in any way prejudiced. Could this be because Miss Endecott is herself of mixed race?

How true Miss Endecott’s words about how part of the English psyche is to avoid dialogue about race and the impossibility of being able to challenge those that set themselves up as anti-racists.

Rather than some of the cuts we read about councils having to make to services, is it not about time they made savings instead by getting rid of positions such as equality and diversity managers and their like?

This would then result in good people such as Miss Endecott being allowed to go about their business.
