SO the controversial 40mph speed limit on the Richmond Hill part of the Wessex Way is to be made permanent.
Cllr Michael Filer, Bournemouth council’s cabinet member for transportation, seems to be happy that he has got his way. Surely he and the other Bournemouth councillors should be hanging their heads in shame as this must be admitting that the road system is not good enough. What is really needed is a road system that is fit for purpose.
Put in longer slip roads etc now and let us all have the roads that we deserve. If the council were doing their job correctly, then the limit should be nearer 70mph not a measly 40mph. Whilst on the subject of roads, where are the motorways that we should have in this area to help private and commercial users? Stop squandering money on expensive surf reef and IMAX fiascos and spend it more wisely, on something that is going to improve things for the poor downtrodden motorists.
JOHN HARRIS, Bournemouth
