MAY I, through the columns of your newspaper, pay tribute to the generosity of the people in Ringwood who put money in the Christian Aid envelopes.

The purpose was to raise funds to help with international disasters such as Floods, Hurricanes and Earthquakes, amongst many other things which cause human suffering and death.

May I congratulate all concerned especially the house-to-house callers from the Churches on a brilliant collection this year. In hard and difficult conditions they have managed to improve on results during the past three years, beating last year’s by more than £600 (15 per cent). Well done everyone.

Catholics £92.65; All Saints St Leonards £737.21; Trinity United Church £1,347.22; Salvation Army £106.24 ; Poulner Baptist £289.37; Crow Chapel £380.69; Parish Church £1,390.20. Total, £4,334.58 Gift Aid on £1,000 these amounted to £393.00. Grand total … £4727. 58.
