I HAD to smile when I read the recent article on wind farms, chiefly because of Chris Sherrington’s claim that a wind park offshore at Great Yarmouth drew visitors of 35,000 a year.

Having just returned from a coach tour of that area we found there was little else to see.

We whittled through the villages, the broads were practically invisible by coach, the town – a haven for family amusements – eerily empty, so the wind farm was about the only thing the driver could comment on.

Yes, we do need to encourage clean sustainable power (my favourite – tidal power), but I have just read in the MOS that a report this week says wind farms are working at just 21 per cent of capacity.

I trust the councillors are given the wisdom they need.
