Will AV or First Past the Post do anything to improve democracy or stimulate youth to participate in political elections?

I think not. The tinkering with the vote and the possible changing of a few personalities in Parliament, which is still weighed down by the totally unelected upper house does absolutely nothing.

Look at the pupils leaving any senior school.

Their use of mobile phones, the fact that they are computer literate, means that they are of a technological age.

They are not that of the classical senator wrapped in a sheet in the steps of the forum.

All Acts of our Parliament have to be taken to the Sovereign for approval, The Royal Prerogative.

It would be more democratic in these wired up times if all the people could approve or disapprove these acts – A People’s Prerogative.

Also, a wholly elected Senate could be established somewhere in the north, possibly in Buxton, so that the whole of England could feel united.

The freed space at Westminster could give our representatives better office facilities.

Our computer-minded youth may then feel included and the balance of voting cease to be dominated by the ancients.
