THE recent works, which demonstrate thoughtless stupidity at play, are on Beechwood Avenue and the Boscombe Overcliff Drive.
These works feature double sets of shallow pyramids and wide raised sections of road in the middle of which are zebra crossings.
The convoluted shenanigans displayed by motorists at these crossings has to be seen to be believed.
Trucks simply span the humps and Smart cars drive in the gutter and avoid the humps.
A number attempt to negotiate them from 1-2 mph up to the “boy racers” who fire straight across.
The distraction of this so called “traffic calming” is extraordinary and is leading to near misses on the zebra crossings.
I can understand a proposal to allow pedestrians safe passageway from Christchurch Road in Boscombe to the Cliff via Woodland Walk but surely it would have been cheaper and far safer to have traffic light-controlled crossings.
The elections are on May 5. Any party which promises to deal with this sort of nonsense has my vote.
Is there anyone out there?
