I KNOW nothing about race horses, but it appears Mrs Dingwall was a very successful owner and trainer of race horses at her paddock and stables at Sandbanks, using empty beaches in early mornings.

She helped break down the male barrier which presented ladies of being recognised as trainers of racehorses. Very successful in this country and France.

In 1970, already in her eighties, she won two prizes in France, and was dined like a heroine. Must have been a very important race!

Presumably her racing colours were registered with the Jockey Club, “Pink Stripes” perhaps?

One of her horses fell in France in 1972 and was killed. Were they raced over the flat or over the sticks? I don’t know, but surely the Daily Echo reported her success in 1970 and the 1972 occurrence?
