I SEE another person is complaining about metrication (Graham Cribb, Echo March 7).

I can’t understand their reluctance to embrace the metrication process. The USA and ourselves are the only countries in the world not to use the metric system.

It’s got nothing to do with Brussels, Mr Cribb, it’s worldwide.

Why does the rest of the world use the metric system? Because it is far easier to use.

Many countries converted to the metric system over the years (Australia, New Zealand, South Africa are some) and they had no serious problems converting.

It’s time for this country to go completely metric and show the world we are getting into step at last.

What is needed is a tough stance against the market traders and others who complain endlessly about the change. The elderly will get used to it quickly, once it is in force. I’m 73 and find the metric system easier to use.
