AS A local of Hamworthy Park, I would like to comment on the proposed siting of the new marina.
As I’m not against a new berthing for passenger ships alongside the existing dock, these ships would probably only call about once a week and would be good for Poole town.
Therefore would it not be best to transfer the fishermen dock to the New Quay after the removal of the old rusting barges and then extend the existing marina on the quay?
The space allocated for the proposed marina could then be used for the windsurfers and small sailing activities alongside a new car park, freeing up the existing one making the beach safer for the many small children that use the shallow waters.
Looking at the photo in the Echo, I don’t think that the new marina would have made any difference as the sun would still rise over the docks and set over Wareham in the west.
