AS a very frequent visitor to the New Forest area, I am very distressed to hear of the continual loss of animal life.
It is possible that fencing might be too costly, not desirable and probably not visually attractive, unless it is of rustic construction or possibly hidden by the sympathetic planting of suitable trees or shrubs.
Such planting has the advantage of being advantageous to the planet as a whole.
Maybe technology might have a solution by the use of sensor lighting to illuminate the road and the animal in the highest risk area.
Perhaps even a sensory sonic alarm system which might repel the animals from crossing the road.
In these hard times, I am aware there are lots of good causes needing funding, but surely the Forestry Commission and Hampshire County Council as (I believe) majority landowners, could set aside sufficient funds, from their not insubstantial assets, to try to eradicate this carnage.
